Walnut Chippendale Chest of Drawers
Description:
This chest of drawers has a presence defined by both bold architectural elements and a warm dry surface. A molded top helps define a narrow case width of just 34" with flanking fluted quarters columns and a four drawer arrangement with original post and bale hardware. The molded base rests over bold ogee feet.
Materials and Techniques:
Walnut with poplar secondary wood.
Condition:
The chest has it's original brass. The left rear foot is an old replacement. There is a very slight warp in the top drawer.
Origin: Delaware Valley, PA.
Date: c. 1770.
